Your business network

Helping you build a successful business future

Business can be a challenge. The Sunshine Coast has a rate of 22 per cent self employment – compared with the national average of 15 per cent. A practical and supportive network is critical for your business growth.

About Us

The Sunshine Coast Business Breakfast Group includes business owners and senior staff who meet every Thursday morning for networking and sharing valuable business information. A major benefit of the group is the sharing of referrals – qualified business leads – to each other. These referrals can be members of the group doing business with each other, but equally importantly, business contacts outside the group itself.

Everyone is requested to arrive at 6:45 to order their breakfast and the inevitable catching up with fellow members prior to the 7am meeting. Visitors kindly contact us via the contact us page so we can ensure a seat is available for you. Please note that we do have a ‘one of a kind’ policy to ensure we have only one member from each industry group.

Current businesses span a diverse range of professions including: finance, law, accounting, bookkeeping, marketing, plumbing, optical, building, fencing, office supplies, electrical, blinds and interiors, flooring, real estate, retirement planning, superannuation and risk advice, landscaping, motor vehicle service & repair, jewellery, teddy bears, unique gifts and others.

The mix of businesses and personalities of everyone involved means discussions are lively with plenty of laughter. Most of us enjoy the camaraderie just as much as the business received from the group. Our policy is to have only one member of each profession.

Our meetings

On arrival, we use the time between 6.45am to 7.00 am to have a general chat and network with other members and during this time we order breakfast. We do like to start at 7.00 am to enable us to get through our meeting by 8.15 am so that those who have offices/shops to open are able to get going.

We start with a quick ‘housekeeping’ chat by the Chairperson/President including announcements and then move onto the ‘educational’ section where the person designated as the ‘education officer’ will give a short talk.

After that each business member gives their “60 second infommercial”. If we have anyone new to the group that day, they will be given the opportunity to briefly tell us about themselves and their business after this section.

During this time breakfast is generally being served. After we go around the table we will then have our 10 minute talk – delivered by a member or guest and can be on a variety of subjects.

We close with our “Raps and Recaps”. This gives us the opportunity to tell the group about the referrals that have been accomplished in the past week.

Other events

Business showcase

We hold regular events where we gather at the business premises of one of our members who will then take us on a ‘tour’ of either their premises or a run down on what exactly they do and introduce us to their employees. This can even be used to introduce a new product or service in more detail than the 10 minute talk may allow. Generally speaking the person who is ‘showcasing’ their business will provide some kind of refreshments. It is entirely up to the individual what they serve.  Most people to date have served beer, wine and soft drinks with chips and dips, cheese/crackers and perhaps fruit. You can be as elaborate or as simple as you want. It is not necessary to serve alcohol if you would prefer not to.

Social events

We are also a social bunch – whether it be a mid year or Christmas celebration, a night out bowling or a group barbecue. We love to get together to celebrate our stunning Sunshine Coast region and simply the camraderie that our group has.
